With a customized at home whitening teeth whitening kit from Holistic Dental Centers, you whiten safely and effectively, at your convenience. Once your smile reaches the desired level of brilliance, you will want to keep it looking great. Dr. Carl McMillan offers this advice to patients of his offices in Cary and Cornelius, NC.
Home care is key
The Holistic Dental Centers hygiene team does a terrific job of polishing away surface stains, and removing plaque and bacteria during regular cleanings. The other 363 days, you have the chance to keep teeth sparkling with excellent daily care.
- Brush after eating. Twice a day (after breakfast and before bed) is the minimum. Brushing each time you eat or drink anything but plain water helps to keep stains away.
- If you can’t brush, rinse teeth with plain water after eating or drinking beverages.
- Floss at least once a day (bedtime) to reduce risk of cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Flossing also keeps areas between teeth shiny white.
Pay attention to what goes in
Any form of tobacco – cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco – is dangerous to your health, potentially habit-forming, and stains teeth. Talk with your dentist or physician about quitting.
Beverages are more staining than foods because their pigments flow into every crevice. Do you consume a great deal of coffee, tea, cola, colored sports drinks, or red wine? Try replacing every other one with plain, fresh water. Acidic beverages such as white wine and energy drinks also lead to staining.
