If you’re hiding your smile because of discolored, uneven, chipped teeth, or teeth that have gaps between them, veneers are a quick and effective way to solve those problems. By working with Dr. Carl McMillan and his team at Holistic Dental Centers, residents of Charlotte can cover the imperfections in their teeth with veneers to give them a more confident, radiant smile.
Even though veneers can be made with a variety of materials, at Holistic Dental Centers we use porcelain veneers because of the safety, durability, and realistic aesthetics of the materials. A porcelain veneer is a thin, custom-made shell that is laid over and bonded to the front surface of a tooth to improve its color and shape. Some patients may only need one or two veneers to improve their smiles, while others may require more.
Getting veneers typically requires three trips to Holistic Dental Centers. During your first meeting, Dr. McMillan will discuss options for your teeth and the process of placing veneers. During the second visit, a thin layer of your teeth’s outer enamel will be removed and your teeth will be shaped in preparation for the veneers. Local anesthesia will be used at this time to keep you comfortable. Next, impressions of your teeth will be made so we can create a model that is sent to a dental lab to customize your veneers. You will need to wear temporary veneers for 2-3 weeks until your customized veneers arrive at Holistic Dental Centers.
During your final appointment, Dr. McMillan will ensure a proper fit before bonding the veneers. Once the veneers are approved by the doctor and patient, Dr. McMillan will bond them to your teeth and use a special light to harden the bonding material. The final result is a beautiful, natural-looking smile that you’ll enjoy for years.
You should care for your veneers as you would your normal teeth. Brush and floss daily, and keep up with regular dental check-ups to ensure your veneers last for many years to come.
