The dentists at Holistic Dental Centers believe in providing biocompatible, holistic dentistry to ensure the health and wellbeing of their patients. There are several materials and services they avoid providing to maintain these standards.
Fluoride is a poison. It is a drug used without permission to the public and has far-reaching negative effects in the body, including destroying the normal function of the thyroid.
Mercury is the second most toxic element on the planet. It has been used in silver amalgam fillings for almost 200 years but it can affect every organ in the body, including having a negative effect on the central nervous system.
Root canal therapy can host toxic bacteria no matter how well they are done. These toxins leach out through the tubules in the tooth and into the bloodstream causing many dysfunctions of the body.
In-office bleaching is expensive and typically very ineffective. Instead, our office focuses on tray bleaching, an effective solution with long-term advantages.
Implants are avoided whenever possible, as they are not biocompatible with the body. We do place some zirconium implants, but prefer bridges and dentures as alternative solutions when appropriate.
Gold, nickel, and other mixed metals are not used in Holistic Dental Centers.
While sealants are a grand idea, they are typically not recommended. Even “perfect sealants” can cover areas where microscopic portions of decay have started and can lead to larger cavities underneath the sealant meant to protect the natural tooth structure.
While the dentists at Holistic Dental Centers believe in biocompatibility testing, it is not recognized by the dental board as valid. This includes Electro Dermal Screening, Applied Kinesiology, or IgE and IgG mediated sensitivity testing.
