Veneers
If your objective in consulting Dr. McMillan is to get straighter, whiter and more even teeth, then porcelain veneers will fit right into your plan. Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are laid over and bonded to teeth, creating a beautiful “superstar” smile. Even though veneers can be made of various materials, at Holistic Dental Centers, they are made of porcelain because of the safety of the material and the durability and realistic aesthetics. Unlike crowns, the use of veneers can require significantly smaller amounts of the tooth’s natural surface to be removed prior to placement.
Once the elite providers of Holistic Dental Centers believes that porcelain veneers will help your condition, you will be required to attend three appointments. During the first visit, Dr. McMillan will discuss the process of placing veneers with you and explain the various options that are available. Your next visit will involve the removal of a small layer of your teeth’s outer enamel in preparation for the placement of the veneers. A local anesthetic will be used for this portion of the process. Next, a mold of your teeth will be taken and sent to a dental lab where customized veneers will be prepared and returned to Holistic Dental Center within seven to 10 business days.
During this time, there’s a chance for your teeth to change appearance slightly as a result of the removal of the outer layer of the enamel. You will be given the option of wearing temporary restorations until the final appointment, even though it is not vitally necessary. When Dr. McMillan’s dental office receives your permanent veneers, your final appointment will take place. During that appointment, the veneers will be placed onto your teeth with a bonding material that dries and hardens when exposed to light.

Safe Mercury Removal
We specialize in the safe removal of mercury fillings (amalgam). Mercury has been scientifically tested to be more toxic to humans than arsenic, cadmium, or lead. Mercury vapor is released from amalgam and absorbed at a rate of about 80% into the lungs and bloodstream.
